A Night at the Library

Wax philosophical at this dusk-to-dawn ideas exchange.

Down a few shots of espresso and dig in for an all-night marathon of philosophical debate, original performances, art installations, readings, and music at the grand Brooklyn Library, co-presented by the French Embassy. It’s a modern-day 18th-century French salon, sans the petticoats and wigs. Though you might discuss technological espionage instead of maritime warfare, many of the topics will likely be the same: personal liberty versus national security, the role of the elite, and revolution. When was the last time you stayed up all night talking about ideas?

Get in the right humeur beforehand with a cheese plate, rabbit potpie, and a glass of wine at The Vanderbilt, a nearby gastropub.
