Esquire named it one of the best bars in America, and our general manager, James Luria, considers this neighborhood haunt’s garden a second home of sorts. “I’m not much of a stereotypical ‘summer cocktail’ drinker (I tend to stick with my old-fashioneds whenever I can),” says food expert Jess Bender. “Having said that, Dutch Kills makes this mean coconut-based cocktail—El Alcalde—spiked with spiced rum and grated nutmeg. Database manager Mark Romano is game to try anything at this Lower East Side drink destination. “I watch the bartenders make cocktails at the bar and think, I don’t care what’s in it; give that to me,” he says.
