A Family Day in Chelsea

Spend the afternoon with kids of all ages in this Manhattan neighborhood with many creative activities.

In between the activities below, stroll the High Line and pop into shops and galleries.

EAT: Lunch at Creamline Inside Chelsea Market

There’s an eating option for every taste at Chelsea Market, but our kids are always drawn to the old-fashioned milkshakes, very good hamburgers, and even better French fries at Creamline, perhaps the only “farm to tray” restaurant in the city. 75 Ninth Avenue (between 15th and 16 Streets)

DO: Ride the Pier 62 Carousel

In warm weather, take a spin on the beautiful, seasonal merry-go-round right on the Hudson River. Pier 62 at 22nd Street and the Hudson River

SNACK: Dig Into a Dozen at the Donut Pub

An old-school doughnut shop that’s been around since the 1960s. 203 West 14th Street (between Seventh and Eighth Avenues)

DO: Visit the Rubin Museum

A lovely, manageable museum focusing on the culture and art of Tibet and the surrounding regions, with plenty of hands-on activities for kids. 150 West 17th Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues)

EAT: Dinner at Cafe Cluny

A French-American bistro known for impeccable service and delicious food (kids love its avocado toast). 284 West 12th Street (at West 4th Street)
