Discover the wonders of Brooklyn’s (much less crowded) answer to Central Park.
DO: Skate at Lefrak Center at Lakeside
In the summer, it’s roller, and in the winter, it’s ice—both in a gorgeous indoor-outdoor rink next to a lake with pedal boats.
EAT: Something for Everyone at Bluestone Cafe
At the surprisingly good café next to the skating rink, adults can order healthier fare (quinoa bowls and kale Caesar salad), and children can munch on burgers, mac and cheese, and ice cream. During the summer, sit outside at the picnic tables and watch kids frolic in the Splash Pad water play area.
RIDE: The Carousel
Built in 1912, this is one of our favorite merry-go-rounds in the city during the spring, summer, and fall.
LEARN: Settler History at the Lefferts Historic House
Right across from the carousel, this preserved home was built by a Dutch family in the 18th century and is the perfect place to learn how to sew, churn butter, and make candles.
