Your vacation starts here.

You’ve made it through airport security and have some moments to spare before your flight boards. Now what? Get in vacation mode early with oysters, champagne, art, and even a little piano music.

EAT: Seasonal New American Fare at Publican Tavern

In case your layover isn’t long enough to visit one of Chicago’s most acclaimed restaurants, fear not! The Publican operates an airport location, with all the same beer, oysters, charcuterie, and seasonal veggies that locals and visitors have come to obsess over. K1, Terminal 3

SHOP: For Vacation Reads at Barbara’s Bookstore

In the market for a titillating mystery-thriller? Or perhaps a book about Chicago history? Whatever your literary fancy, homegrown chain Barbara’s Bookstore is here to entertain you on your journey—and perhaps inspire some places to visit while in town. G1B and H4, Terminal 3

DO: Get Your Art On

Chicago is world renowned for its arts scene, which you can clearly see by simply strolling through the airport. Every terminal has impressive public art on display throughout, including Terry Evans’s photography exhibition with images of airplanes (Terminal 3), a stained-glass exhibition (Terminal 5), and a model airplane exhibition called “Flights of Fantasy” (Terminal 3).

DRINK: Champagne at Bubbles Wine Bar

It’s not every day you get to sip sparkling wine alongside a piano in an airport. Luxuriate with a flute (or a bottle; delays are stressful) and a charcuterie board at the chicest lounge at O’Hare. H4, Terminal 3

UNWIND: In the Yoga Room

Whether leaving or arriving, it’s a good idea to stretch and find inner peace. Fortunately, O’Hare has a peaceful yoga room to scratch that itch, featuring bamboo floors, mats, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and natural light. Terminal 3 Rotunda
