You don’t need to hike from the Financial District to Inwood to get lost in Manhattan’s esteemed skyscrapers, gaping monuments, and celebrated bridges—not when it’s all conveniently located inside the city’s biggest botanical garden.

The New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show allows urbanites of all ages to fully immerse themselves in the city’s renowned architecture. More model trains than ever before will chug and choo along the half-mile track, dancing around the 150-plus iconic landmarks re-created with twigs, leaves, acorns, seeds, hollowed-out logs, and pinecones. This year’s cityscape, designed by masterful show creator Paul Busse, will focus on showcasing lower Manhattan and the illustrious buildings and landmarks that define it; scout out the Statue of Liberty, the Battery Maritime Building, and, for the first time, One World Observatory.
NYBG also offers family-focused events for all ages, like the playful Evergreen Express inside the Discovery Center and All Aboard With Thomas & Friends (where you can even meet the beloved locomotive after the show!). Other special happenings include Holiday A Cappella and holiday film screenings (Frozen, Polar Express, and more).
Adults (21 and over) can experience the exhibition on a whole new level during Bar Car Nights. You’ll stroll through the wintry outdoors while enjoying festive treats, spirited cocktails, and live entertainment.
Why You Should Go: New York City is envisioned as a magical, botanical wonderland at this beloved annual event.
