You can tell summer is here not only by the heat index, but by the proliferation of summer guides and hot summer picks taking over the newsstands and the web. And while there are many worthwhile listings in these guides, there are also many things they overlook. Secret things. Intrigued?
1. A Moveable Feast of Art and Virtual Reality
WSWD’s performance art expert Ross Tipograph told us about this rolling art and VR installation taking root at Knockdown Center in Maspeth, Queens. He describes the project, from Buffalo’s Flatsitter Media Arts Collective, as “a quirky shuttle bus going nationwide with immersive art and virtual reality.” The shuttle has already been to Marfa, Texas; Oaxaca, Mexico; New Orleans; Tallahassee, Florida; Pittsburgh; and other locations. As Ross notes, “Works are suitable for kids 8 and older. Bring the fam, explore the massive vehicle, and enjoy tech entertainment.”
