U.S. Open 2017

Grand-Slam Style

What to wear and what to buy at the U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open’s style scene has abided by the same two principles since it started in 1978: tasteful and practical. Below, we serve up some looks that fit the bill and pick the sharpest souvenir duds from the official USTA Shop. Whatever you wear, though, be sure not to commit the Open’s most egregious fashion faux pas: wearing tennis clothes. Unless you’re registered to compete, leave the tennis skorts and wristbands at home.

Rally Rainwear

Arthur Ashe Stadium has a retractable roof for pop-up showers, but the rest of the courts don’t. Seasoned Open-goers know to bring a light rain jacket (umbrellas are allowed, but they have to be closed during play); this country club–approved L.L. Bean version is ideal.

Where to Get It:
Trail Model Rain Jacket
L.L. Bean
Available online
$79
